<dc:description xml:lang="en">Since social work has hardly dealt with LGBTIQ* issues so far, the following qualitative research explores intersectionalities between LGBTIQ* topics and social work practice. Hence problem-centered interviews were conducted with experts in LGBTIQ* organizations in Rome and the social and political background in Italy is elucidated. The obtained results show that there are few social work professionals in the field of LGBTIQ*, but that social workers are beyond doubt confronted with LGBTIQ* topics in their daily practice. To ensure an adequate approach to service users, there is a need for relevant trainings as well as (critical) reflection of the own position and prejudices and a rethinking of habitual heteronormative practices.</dc:description>
