Da diese Reform wesentliche Änderungen, unter anderem im Gesundheitswesen, mit sich brachte, ist es von Relevanz, die praktische Umsetzung der Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten sowie der Selbstbestimmungsidee im medizinischen Kontext zu untersuchen. Die Daten wurden mit Hilfe des narrativen Interviews nach Schütze (1983) erhoben und mit der Methode des offenen Kodierens nach Strauß und Corbin (1996) ausgewertet. Es zeigt sich, dass zahlreiche Aspekte – beispielsweise die individuell eingenommene Haltung der Erwachsenenvertreter*innen und des Gesundheitspersonals – einen einschränkenden oder förderlichen Einfluss auf die Selbstbestimmungsmöglichkeiten von betroffenen Menschen haben. The Second Protection of Adults Act is centred on self-determination and concrete decision-making aids of the represented persons. Since this reform brought about significant changes, especially in the healthcare system, it is relevant to examine the practical implementation of the support options and the idea of self-determination in the medical context. The data acquisition was realised through the narrative interview by Schütze (1983) and analysed by using the open coding method according to Strauss and Corbin (1996).
